Promoting automation in the transport sector in focus when Drive Sweden participated in High Level EU meeting

The purpose of the meeting was to speed up European collaboration for promoting transport automation. Finland chaired the High Level Meeting on Connected and Automated Driving (HLM CAD) in 2020 and three central themes were identified; a human-oriented automation of transports, increased information exchange between actors in relevant ecosystems and the development of legislation.

The meeting underlined the importance of looking to the citizens’ needs while developing automated transports in order to increase the societal welfare and to aid in reaching societal goals. The need to strengthen interoperability for necessary information-exchanges was also lifted and identified areas to further develop included the collection, analysis and use of data and the automation of background systems and traffic control.
