New projects starting up within Drive Sweden

Tuesday, December 3, 2019

A number of new strategic projects are starting within Drive Sweden. The projects will contribute to new knowledge within all the thematic areas and will be important in the development of smart, innovative transport and mobility solutions.

These are the new projects:

Drive Sweden Business Model Lab

The rapid development of Automated Connected Vehicles and Mobility services create new business opportunities, while business models remain a bottleneck. This puts pressure on current business models and opens the door for radical changes, and the entry of new actors with new business models. This project’s aim is to accelerate the implementation and use of connected, cooperative and automated mobility by identifying and tackling bottlenecks connected to business models.

Drive Sweden Policy Lab

Since regulations cannot change in a speed that matches the quick development of technology and market, new methods for policy and regulation innovation are needed. The purpose of the Drive Sweden Policy Lab is to explore how technology and service development relate to the existing laws and regulations for new mobility services that are being developed within Drive Sweden's project portfolio, and to identify and overcome obstacles for the new technologies and services to be implemented.

The digitalization of the transport delivery chain on roads - Phase 1

This project will study the improvements that can be achieved by digitalization and data sharing by gathering actors from the entire freight value chain. The project lays the foundation for a larger pilot project aimed at gaining a higher level of security with regard to when transports arrive and a better knowledge of the impact that the transport has had on the goods by using data. The project will also study the possibility of reducing certain manual processes. Finally, the project will explore the possibility of increasing societal benefits by describing the sustainability impact a transport has had in terms of both ecological and social sustainability.

4All

The purpose of the project is to develop solutions that can contribute to sustainable mobility in the form of demonstrators/pilots in a specific site, being useful ”For All". By studying self-driving buses, the project intend to address the ”For All” concept and how accessibility and the willingness and ability to use solutions can be defined and treated. The project will also add to known studies, experiments and implementations of self-driving buses, with the purpose to discuss what can drive the desire to provide a mobility service with self-driving buses and the will to use such a service.

Security for autonomous vehicles from a societal and safety perspective

This project aims to raise the issue of cyber security for autonomous connected vehicles to a system level with a focus on enabling a positive social development. In this feasibility study, the project will utilize a new mobility arena in Linköping called ELIN. The project intends to investigate and analyze risks connected to external control of autonomous buses, but also to carry out an external analysis of what standards and initiatives exist and how different actors need to relate to them.
